SUMMARY
The Executive Director is a dynamic, experienced leader who collaborates with the Staff team and Board to identify and address the organization’s top strategic and organizational challenges.
The Executive Director is an experienced nonprofit executive who has worked with or led a collective action/multi-stakeholder organization, ideally with a background in sustainability.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
The Conservation Alliance for Seafood Solutions (“the Alliance”) advances a movement-wide goal that by 2030, at least 75% of global seafood production will be environmentally responsible or making verifiable improvements, and safeguards will be in place to ensure social responsibility.
The Alliance is a community builder in the responsible seafood movement. We believe people make more progress when they work together. The Alliance is unique in supporting the progress of all stakeholder types across the responsible seafood movement, including NGOs, companies, academics, and other experts. Our focus is not limited to any one geography or species.
The Alliance connects a community of collaborative changemakers in the responsible seafood movement with the resources and support needed to make more progress.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Alliance Executive Director is a visible and strategic individual who attends to and generates support for the Alliance's role as the leading community builder in the responsible seafood movement. The Executive Director leads the Staff team and Board in effective planning and execution for results.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures the Alliance’s various bodies (Global Hub, Alliance Board, Advisory Council, Working Groups, Networks, and Staff) are working together effectively
Serves as a visible and consistent representative and advocate of the Alliance and its core values
Collaborates with the Board to establish strategic priorities and leads the Staff team on execution against programmatic and strategic priorities
Consistently and visibly communicates the Alliance’s core values, priorities, and overarching value proposition
Partners with and mentors the Senior Director of Operations and Development to ensure progress against annual fundraising benchmarks
Directs human and financial asset management and development
Oversees fundraising, relationship-building, and strategic partnerships
Works with and collates input from an array of stakeholders without being distracted into off-plan actions
Ensures excellence in all that the Alliance does
Reviews, updates, and improves essential organizational systems
Builds and maintains a culture of positivity, trust, and progress
Develops strategic partnerships and fosters ties among organizations to ensure they are engaged and contributing to collective impact
Fosters opportunities for the Alliance and its members to lead innovative and collaborative efforts
Strengthens management systems and infrastructure
Addresses Staff skill gaps and ensures support for team growth and advancement
Participates in the design and execution of high-profile events and attends these events in person
Holds the overall strategy and workflow of the Alliance and its staff, ensuring financial resources are provided, grant deliverables are met, etc.
Manages a small remote team (currently 3 FTEs)
Stewards the relationship with our fiscal sponsor, Multiplier
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The enabling leader of the Alliance has a record of success in fundraising and extensive experience in supporting large-scale collaborations by removing obstacles to success. The ideal candidate demonstrates integrity and passion for the cause of responsible seafood, emotional intelligence, and compassion. Our future leader is decisive, inclusive, empathic, and skilled in developing effective teams.
This individual is committed to serving as a visible and consistent representative of the Alliance and its core values and is enthused about the opportunity to expertly communicate the Alliance’s case for support.
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE REQUESTED
We recognize that each applicant for this role will bring unique skills, knowledge, experiences, and background to this position. We welcome diverse experiences and perspectives in our applicant pool, and will be looking for candidates who possess many, but not necessarily all, of the following qualifications and experience:
A minimum of five years of experience as a senior leader of a collective action, multi-stakeholder organization
Experience leading initiatives that deliver on promised outcomes
Experience facilitating strategic discussions, including with volunteer groups or boards
A minimum of five years of experience in employee performance management
A record of success in securing grants or private donations of five figures or higher
Knowledge of strategic communications methods and channels
A proven commitment to building diverse, equitable, and inclusive teams
Able to travel quarterly, both domestically and internationally
COMPENSATION
Multiplier provides a comprehensive compensation package, including a competitive salary ($145,00-$155,000), excellent medical and dental benefits, retirement savings, and generous vacation and sick leave policy.
