The Opportunity: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

The Professional Ski Instructors of America and American Association of Snowboard Instructors (PSIA-AASI) is searching for its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to drive the mission of promoting skiing and snowboarding through professional instruction.

Our strategic goals focus on advancing PSIA-AASI as the recognized standard for ski and snowboard education and training while fostering inclusive communities where all members can thrive.
As the face of PSIA-AASI, the CEO will cultivate key relationships with Board members, regional leaders, industry stakeholders, and other organizations within the snowsports community. The CEO will manage the operations of the association and its education foundation, overseeing combined annual revenues of approximately $4M and a staff of 15-20. This role requires a collaborative and visionary strategic leader who can manage operational plans and budgets while driving the organization forward.

Essential Functions & Duties
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement short and long-term strategic plans, created in partnership with the Board, regional leadership and stakeholders, to deliver the organizational goals and objectives .
Ensure the organization's mission, programs, products, and services are consistently developed and executed with partners and stakeholders in a productive and effective manner.
Continue to evolve PSIA-AASI as the preeminent professional snowsports education association.
Stays attuned to global market trends, risks, industry news, and other landscape factors that may affect members, members schools and the industry.

Financial Services
Ensure effective methods to track progress, and regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, regions, members and partners/stakeholders.
Financial Performance and Viability:
Develop revenue streams sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization
Lead budgetary strategy and manage the budget process to meet organizational Ends
Community, Stakeholder and Public Relations:
Act as the primary spokesperson for the organization to constituents, the media, and the general public.
Foster effective and productive relationships with stakeholders and partners to strategically enhance the goals of the organization
Human Resource Management:
Oversee the management of human resources of the organization according to authorized personnel policies and procedures that fully conform to current laws and regulations.
Oversee recruitment, employee management and release of all personnel, both paid staff and volunteers.
Board Governance:
Communicate effectively with the Board of Directors, providing all necessary information for them to function properly and make informed decisions.
Advise and inform board members, interface between board and staff, and assist in the development of board and advisory committees.
Required Skills and Experience
Working knowledge of PSIA AASI as an organization, its membership, structure, processes, educational content, methodology and history. Understands a member’s experience.
Strong financial acumen, knowledge, understanding and experience in creating, analyzing and managing budgets, P&Ls, balance sheets, financial forecasting, ROIs, KPI fulfillment and fundamental fiscal responsibilities.
Has the ability to productively work with cross-functional and disparate groups, creating outcomes of accord and agreement as a working partner in formal or informal leadership roles.
Strategic leadership experience with innovative and enterprise wide IT transformation
The ability to facilitate progress diplomatically while instilling genuine trust and results.
Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills, including planning, timeline development, program development oversight, delegation and facilitation.
Demonstrated ability to foster a productive and collaborative working environment that promotes satisfaction, motivation and engagement.
Knowledge of fair workplace principles and/or experience meeting the needs of diverse populations and leading efforts to create inclusivity and belonging.
Experience leading and managing an organization through principled, measured, transformative change.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or higher, from an accredited institution of higher education.
Executive nonprofit membership association experience (5 years)
Experience working with a Board in a Policy Governance environment (3 years)
Experience in snowsports/resort operations or snowsports school management (3 years)
Experience in sponsorship and partnership development and management (3 years)
Requirements
Ability to travel as required to fulfill job duties. Significant travel , both domestically and internationally will be needed periodically.
Compensation:
A competitive compensation package will be offered to attract an outstanding candidate. Compensation range for base salary: $180,000 to $200,000. Benefits include medical and long-term disability insurance, generous leave, vacation, and holiday policies, and 401(k) retirement savings plan.
