REGULATORY AFFAIRS SPECIALIST
The NMA is currently conducting a search for a full-time Regulatory Affairs Specialist in the association’s headquarter office in Washington D.C. The Regulatory Affairs Specialist assists the legal and regulatory affairs team in achieving the policy goals of the association and supports the General Counsel of Legal and Regulatory Affairs, as well as the rest of the department on any and all relevant tasks.
The ideal candidate possesses previous experience in a highly visible administrative capacity with high-level executives or government officials.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the General Counsel of Legal and Regulatory Affairs, the Regulatory Affairs Specialist assists the legal and regulatory affairs team on all tasks relevant to achieving the association's legal and regulatory goals.
Review, proofread and send department memos to members via an electronic database.
Coordinate with staff on agenda, materials, and all relevant information related to twice-yearly, in-person, Environment and Lands Committee meetings, and the annual Uranium Recovery Workshop (out-of-town travel required).
Coordinate with staff on agenda, materials, and all relevant information related to regularly scheduled member meetings.
Send invitations, track RSVPs, manage agenda, link relevant materials, and put together packets for monthly task force meetings.
Assist in planning and execution of yearly Sentinels of the Safety awards event.
Assist and engage with the NMA Health and Safety Committee and NMA CORESafety Advisory group to achieve health and safety goals and objectives.
Assist with CORESafety video activities.
Conduct research on relevant legal and regulatory issues related to the association's goals and current priorities.
Assist in projects that require all-hands-on-deck (e.g., board meetings, association-wide events, receptions, MINExpo®, and filling in when other people are out of town).

Required Skills and Experience:
BA in Political Science, Public Policy, American Government, etc.
1-3 years of related work experience, preferably on Capitol Hill or administration.
Proven professional judgement.
Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment, with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects and ever-changing priorities.
Highly- organized and detail-oriented.
Self-starter who takes initiative and can anticipate needs before they arise and resolve issues quickly.
Possess excellent people skills and positive can-do.
