About the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association and ASCA Foundation
The Ambulatory Surgery Center Association (ASCA) is a premiere national organization representing ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs). We advocate for high-quality, cost-efficient and accessible healthcare services. Complementing our mission, the ASCA Foundation focuses on providing extensive educational resources and programs to support the continuous development of the ASC community. The Foundation plays a critical role in enhancing the knowledge and skills of ASC professionals, promoting best practices and keeping our members informed and ahead in the rapidly evolving healthcare field.
Key Responsibilities
Organize, and serve as the primary liaison for, speakers for all ASCA’s educational programs. This includes:
Reviewing PowerPoint presentations;
Setting due dates for presentations;
Organizing and distributing speaker packets; and
Ensuring speakers submit all required materials in accordance with established deadlines.
Review virtual education content periodically for updates
Serve as administrator for the online event management system, including working with third-party vendors to update educational programs as needed
Organize and provide all necessary documentation to continuing education providers to ensure that ASCA educational sessions comply with necessary requirements and receive continuing education contact hours
Provide a list of proposed topics submitted for educational programs to the Education Committee and Programs for their review and comments
Work with chairperson of the Education and Programs Committee to coordinate operations of the committees including planning meeting agendas and compiling relevant documents for committee review
Assist with completion of necessary statistical reports/surveys as requested
Assist with educational program operations as requested
Maintain appropriate interpersonal relationships with employees, peers and members
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Education and Clinical Affairs
Serve as Executive Director of the Board of Ambulatory Surgery Certification (BASC)
Ensure that the job analysis and exam content for CASC and CAIP are updated as required
Develop with the Board the BASC strategic plan
Recruit new CASC/CAIP providers
Work with the accountant and BASC Board Secretary/Treasurer on monthly financials
Develop and implement the annual budget
Work with the BASC Board President on Board meeting agendas
Work with the chairpersons of committees regarding meeting agendas and the submission of meeting minutes
Collaborate with internal and external expertise to draft and implement the marketing plan to promote the certifications to new audiences
Identify management companies to collaborate with on recruiting employees for the CASC and CAIP certifications
Manage process for identified programs (i.e. state ambassador) for CASC and CAIP certification recruitment
Implement Board-approved strategic plan for BASC
Maintain software used in candidate/certificant application, certification, and recertification processes
Maintain a working knowledge of the bylaws for the organization and be able to make any necessary recommendations from annual reviews and approvals
Field questions or concerns by the certified members
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
Highly organized, detail-oriented and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint)
Qualifications
Currently licensed registered nurse with a baccalaureate degree in nursing
At least five years of work experience in a leadership role in the ambulatory surgery industry
Preferred background in education or experience as an educator
