The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. The AHA has two main offices, located in Washington, D.C. and Chicago. We are currently seeking a Lead Specialist, ASHE Governance & Chapter Relations for our downtown Chicago office. This position is a hybrid role (three days in the office, two days working remote).
Starting base salary = $86,000 - $107,000 a year (commensurate with related experience).
This position is responsible for building strong relationships with local chapters through membership engagement and supporting key governance functions. In being part of the member engagement team, this position will also have a strong focus on membership growth and retention and will oversees all operational aspects of chapter relations from data management to program development ensuring a strategic approach to meeting team goals. This position also serves as the “elections secretary” managing the elections process for the advisory board and working with staff and nominations committees to ensure successful leadership elections and growth in member voting. This position provides reporting on chapter trends and insights to better connect the national organization and the chapters. With a keen eye on program evaluation and being results driven, this position manages aspects of the certification program to ensure growth. As a customer facing team member, this position will serve as a relationship builder with chapter leaders while providing excellent customer service and will continue to maintain awareness of the changing needs of chapters and ensures the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) delivers the resources to meet those needs.
Chapter Relations & Member Engagement
Oversees all aspects of ASHE’s chapter relations including strategies to meet chapter needs, building stronger ties to the national organization, assistance with the formation of new chapters, general administrative processes, chapter communications, and chapter leader relationships.
Develops ways to accurately measure success based on strategic goals for chapter relations.
Develops chapter-specific strategies to enhance member engagement, recruitment, relationships, and valuable chapter visits.
Manages the onboarding of new chapter leadership to ensure appropriate succession planning and strong relationship building.
Oversees chapter benefits program and suggests enhancements and modifications to meet the needs of members.
Oversee annual chapter data transfer and ensures new member leads from chapters are processed efficiently.
Collaborate with marketing team to establish messaging and campaigns promoting member value through chapters.
Develops and delivers chapter leader education and content including the annual Chapter Leadership Forum, quarterly chapter conference calls, and quarterly chapter eNewsletters.
Serves as a liaison to appropriate committees and/or task forces by organizing meeting agendas and working with volunteers to provide thought leadership.
Attends Chapter events (regional conferences, annual conferences, etc.) as needed to maintain chapter relationships and recruit ASHE members.
Oversees all aspects of key chapter programs including the Chapter Speaker Bureau, annual report submission, and chapter awards program.
Oversees key chapter engagement programs including online communities and volunteer opportunity posting.
Governance
Oversees the elections process for advisory board roles.
In collaboration with the marketing and membership teams, develops and executes a successful strategy to increase volunteer engagement.
Manages visits to chapters by providing standard presentations, organizing logistics, chapter communications, etc.
Leads strategies to increase collaboration between the advisory board members and chapter leaders through events, presentations, newsletters, etc.
Miscellaneous
Contributes to a team culture of respect, collaboration, innovation, and responsiveness.
Collaborate with Director of Member Engagement on budget development; manages all budgets associated with project areas.
Attends key ASHE events including the Plan, Design, and Construction Summit, Annual Conference, Chapter meetings, and Regional Conferences as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education
Required
Bachelors or better in Business Administration or related field.
Experience
Required
5-7 years:•Minimum 5 years' experience with association membership services and/or membership marketing experience or similar preferred. •Advanced knowledge of developing strategies to engage customers and build collaborative relationships. •Knowledge of association membership strategies and operations. •Knowledge of advisory board/governance operations. •Knowledge of membership planning and promotion. •Knowledge of data governance. •Advanced knowledge of Association
