The Manager, In-person Meetings & Conferences oversees the successful execution of NATP in-person education programs and events. This includes but is not limited to, Taxposium, Tax Forums, and the Tax Season Updates (TSU) and ensures that stakeholders and team members are working collaboratively towards the achievement of the program’s objectives.
What You Do

Oversees the successful planning and execution of Taxposium, the Tax Forums, TSUs, and other NATP in-person education, while working with multiple stakeholders, staff, and outside partners.
Provides input on the direction and decisions for all NATP in-person events, and evaluation against established financial and non-financial objectives.
In coordination with event stakeholders and the NATP content team, oversees the development of a comprehensive agenda for Taxposium, Tax Forums, TSUs, and other in-person education.
Reviews event and vendor contracts and has responsibility for ensuring events stay within budget.
In coordination with the Executive Director, Director of Accounting, and other key internal stakeholders, develops the Taxposium, Tax Forums, TSU and other in-person education event budgets.
In coordination with other departments, resolves related issues arising from operations.
Identifies and escalates program issues in a timely manner to the appropriate level of management.
In coordination with other stakeholders, develops in-person program processes and detailed project plans and makes recommendations for improvement.
Manages the evaluation processes to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement.
Creates Conference Event Orders with hotel and vendor contacts, including but not limited to, rooming lists and layout of session space, specialized areas, and exhibits, AV needs, Food & Beverage, Meeting Materials, Rentals, Billings, and Parking and others as needed.
In collaboration with the marketing team ensures that all aspects of each event reflect the conference brand, theme, and positioning.
Manages the alignment of the Taxposium,Tax Forums and TSU budget including oversight of related spending and reconciliation.
Primary point of contact and manages the relationship with NATP speakers and instructors for in-person meetings and conferences.
Support the relationships with long-term and/or one-time service and solution providers, partners, and vendors.
Working with key internal stakeholders, oversees the site selection process for NATP conferences and events.
Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent in education and experience. Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) preferred. At least five years of event operations experience, preferably with a professional/industry association or association management company.
Must have the ability to take initiative and be strategic in the management of organizational events and activities.
Strong negotiation skills, and knowledge of legal issues pertaining to venue and vendor contracts.
Excellent administrative, organizational and time management skills with concurrent projects.
Strong attention to detail and experience managing budgets.
Sound judgment, with the ability to proactively seek information and guidance when needed.
Excellent customer service and collaboration skills along with sense of urgency in serving internal stakeholders’ and members’ interests.
Ability to travel approximately 10-20% per year.
Five (5) years of experience in a similar role. Non-profit organization experience a plus.
