Management of SIA members in the operation of Standards Committee and various advisory boards, subcommittees and working groups with a focus on various products such as access control, video and audio surveillance, physical perimeter protection and alarm and intrusion detection and larger strategic vision towards artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, environmental, social, and corporate governance and proptech.
Support chairs and members in planning meetings, setting agendas, documenting minutes, building consensus and other operational activities.
Serve as secretary of the Security Industry Standards Council (SISC) a consensus body for SIA and The Monitoring Association (TMA).
Ensure standards development process complies with American National Standards Institute (ANSI) essential requirements, and separately, with SIA Standards Program Policies and Procedures.
Identify improvements to the processes for creating, publishing, and maintaining policies, procedures, processes and/or related documents.
Publicize standards activities to organizations and impacted stakeholders.
Promote and recruit volunteers in SIA Standards efforts through training and mentorship.
Draft, edit and review SIA publications for accuracy and thoroughness.
Inform marketing decisions for SIA events, news stories, and activities for public dissemination.
Manage technical editors, third-party labs, technical trainers, researchers, and activities of other contractors.
Participate in the development and execution of the SIA Strategic Plan.
Manage the departmental budget with opportunities to reduce costs and increase revenues through sponsorship, and events.
Serve as external liaison or representative to industry organizations with impact SIA’s mission and goals.
Establish strategic partnerships with other associations and Standards-developing organizations.
Management and development of an access control certification program.
Promotion and presentation of SIA and non-SIA projects and standards and technical programming efforts, both internally and externally.
Collaborate with membership department in recruiting and retaining members to achieve membership and sponsorship revenue targets.
Plan and management of Standards and Technology events and programming during SIA membership attended events.
Report updates to the SIA Executive Committee and Board of Directors as requested.
Research for Standards activities and complementary programming.
Provides support to other departments within SIA as appropriate.
Management of the SIA Standards staff team, including Associate Director, Standards and Technology.
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology, master’s degree desirable.
A minimum of five to seven years of experience in related roles.
A minimum of two years of supervisory experience desirable.
Experience with association or standards developing organization desirable.
Experience with U.S. and international standards systems.
Background in security solutions and issues.
