What you’ll do
Closely partnered with the Director of Marketing, you’ll foster long-lasting relationships with NACE members and sponsors while creating new ones.
Be an advocate and voice for our members, sponsors, exhibitors, and advertisers and gather information, propose new ideas, and become an influential part of not only your own, but NACE’s growth
Direct one part-time employee, as a small but mighty team of two you’ll focus on the big picture of business development but also day-to-day admin work
Drive sales, relationship building, account management, and brand awareness to support business development efforts
Participate in planning meetings, and identify emerging needs or trends outside of NACE’s offerings that could be value-added opportunities
Strategize to identify appropriate sponsors and members for various products and services and convert leads to sales
Conduct prospecting efforts through data mining, competitor analysis, referrals, networking, lead generation, and make outbound calls/emails to new and existing leads (no set quotas!)
Participate in the budgeting process, set goals based, and report regularly on progress
Design packages and opportunities to attract sponsors, exhibitors, and advertisers and write/execute agreements

What you need to thrive in this role
A college degree with a minimum of 5-7 years of business development or sales experience at an association or similar organization, preferred
Fundraising experience, a plus!
Collaborative team player with proven relationship-building skills in a business-to-business capacity
Excellent listening, presentation, and verbal and written communication skills
Natural goal setter, results-driven, and a history of driving sales revenue growth
Excellent project and time management skills
Experience with Microsoft Office applications, lead management systems/customer databases, project management programs, and virtual event platforms is helpful- we use Salesforce & Aptify
Ability to travel about 15% of the time for staff meetings, board meetings, business development efforts, and our annual conference as needed- this year our conference is at Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin!
