AAVSB is currently seeking to add a Full-Time Content Specialist to the Marketing Team. The Content Specialist is responsible for maintaining and executing the AAVSB's content strategy across various platforms for a number of campaigns to establish brand consistency and increase participation in the AAVSB's programs and services. Day-to-day activities include creating print and digital content including web, email, social media, blogs and articles, and print for the entire organization as well as program and service brands, working with the marketing & communications team, maintaining and expanding a content calendar, summarizing content analytics, and coming up with content opportunities.
The qualified candidate should possess strong marketing and communications acumen, strong writing skills, exceptional emotional intelligence, maturity, good judgement, and be capable of communicating with a diverse range of individuals, internally and externally.
Compensation: $50,000 - $55,000
Responsibilities
Executing marketing & communications content strategy and specific campaigns.
Identify opportunities to repurpose existing content or create content opportunities.
Summarize metrics and data from published content.
Monitor existing AAVSB social media channels and engage on comment threads while adhering to brand guidelines.
Maintaining and executing year-long social media content calendar.
Work directly with other departments to create written content, and create and execute publishing schedule using content calendar.
Develop graphics for social media, email newsletters, print, and other projects.
Assist with creating and sending email newsletters to members and campaign audiences.
Develop web content and review and revise existing web content for efficiency and clarity.
Perform duties as required based on the needs of the AAVSB and/or as assigned.

Skills:
Knowledge of:
Latest trends and technologies in marketing and communications, graphic design, and copywriting.
Graphic design tools such as Canva and Adobe Suite, and web design tools such as WordPress.
Website and social media metrics dashboards, such as Google Analytics and Facebook Business Manager.
Effective writing skills for long-form content such as blog posts and print, and short-form content such as emails and social media.
Content management and creation techniques.
Ability to:

Be a skilled storyteller and convey information, news, or ideas skillfully and effectively to diverse audiences.

Excel in content marketing and copywriting with in-depth knowledge, research skills, and creativity.
Maintain focus on the customer and user experiences as relating to website performance and engagement with the AAVSB brand.
Manage social media. Must understand social networks and how to use them to engage audiences.
Effective and efficient work both independently and collaboratively as part of the AAVSB team from a remote location or office setting, committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

Education and Experience:
Required: Accredited Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years’ relevant experience in an office setting.
Preferred: Accredited Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years’ relevant experience in an education setting or nonprofit association.
Must be committed to ongoing professional development. Occasional travel and weekend work might be necessary to fulfill the position’s responsibilities.
Details:
The AAVSB is headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri and moving to Overland Park, Kansas (KC greater metropolitan area) at the end of March. This position may be virtual/remote with the understanding that there will be required company-paid travel to Overland Park, Kansas, and other locations throughout the year.
