TITLE: Manager, ASMC National Awards and Scholarships
REPORTS TO: Director for Membership & Chapter Development
TELEWORK: Part time, pending approval
FUNCTION: The American Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC) annually recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of its chapters, membership, and the defense financial management community through its awards and scholarship programs. This program encompasses individual and team achievement awards, scholarships, educational grants, an essay contest, chapter recognition, and a variety of other individual-based awards. This position operates the year-round program which encompasses management of the programs, system management, volunteer coordination, program development, customer service, and submission and presentation of ASMC awards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ASMC National Awards Program
Acts as project manager to provide customer service and communications support for individual and chapter awards. This includes, but is not limited to, resolving telephone and email queries from members, staff, nominators, and judges. Will also support communication staff in creating promotions for National Awards Program.
Research and recommend ongoing improvements to the current Awards platform and work with vendors to implement them.
Finalize award winners, including assisting the committee in the judging process for individual awards, conducting point summary/audit for chapter awards, posting winners to ASMC website, in conjunction with ASMC staff, and placing plaque and check orders.
ASMC Academic Scholarships and Awards
Responsible for the National Scholarship Program and the Continuing Education Grant Programs. The National Scholarship Program recognizes graduating high school seniors for academic achievement and provides financial assistance so that they may accomplish their future financial management baccalaureate educational goals. The manager will work with ASMC chapters to increase local chapter scholarship programs.
Awarding up to eleven grants annually, the Members’ Continuing Education Grant Program is designed to provide financial assistance to ASMC members for their continuing educational endeavors after high school. The program also encourages the development of local chapter members’ continuing education programs.
Additionally, the manager is responsible for the oversight of ASMC’s relationships with academic institutions and the coordination of various ASMC-sponsored awards at those academic institutions. The manager also oversees the agreements with other institutions as it relates to educational member benefits and collaborates with appropriate staff in the development of new agreements.
Annual Professional Development Institute (PDI)
Oversees the planning and development, and executes ASMC’s Awards Program, recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of its chapters, membership, and the defense financial management community. This program includes individual and team achievements, scholarships, educational grants, an essay contest, chapter recognition, and other individual-based awards.
Identify and direct member judges throughout the awards process.
Manage pre-con communications and execute awards presentations onsite.
Assist with onsite PDI store and all other PDI activities as needed.
Responds to all membership and chapter inquiries via phone and email, and does so with respect, courtesy, and efficiency.
Update individual records & assist members and staff with data requests on demand, as needed.
Responsible for documenting key processes and procedures.
Contributes to staff meetings, promotes teamwork, and backs up and assists staff and management as needed.
Contribute to the cohesiveness of overall ASMC operations via teamwork and assistance as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Continually learn and develop individually, as well as improve ASMC processes and procedures, program management, and database management capabilities.

Working knowledge of computers in a windows environment as well as AMS experience – Altai, basic SQL, Open Water a plus.
Extensive experience collaborating with volunteers and awards programs
Must be able to function as part of a team and collaborate well with ASMC staff and volunteers
Experience with website management
Excellent project management skills
Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
ASMC is the non-profit educational and professional organization for persons, military and civilian, involved in the overall field of military comptrollership. ASMC promotes the education and training of its members, and supports the development and advancement of the profession of military comptrollership. The society provides professional programs to keep members abreast of current issues and encourages the exchange of information, techniques and approaches.
