We are looking for someone to join our team as the Senior Staff Accountant. The position is an integral part of the financial operations and accounting practices of the organization (ASAE and Affiliates). Produce standard monthly financial statements, to include balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flows
Maintain each affiliates financial statements, ledgers and other required reports including the chart of accounts, as well as budget and forecast data
Prepare month end and year end work papers, as well as reconciliations as part of the financial statement issuance process
Perform detailed review and analysis of financial statements for direct issuance
Partner with internal operational teams to produce any needed financial analysis and additional reporting
Interact with internal operational teams to perform research, answer questions about the financial statements and explain accounting procedures
Account for and analyze investment statements
Interact with internal operational team members as needed to answer questions about the financial statements and explain variances to budget/forecast
Act in a support function to the Director of Finance and act as a liaison to external auditors during the annual audit process
Assist the director of Finance and support the external tax professionals regarding tax and other regulatory matters
Participate with operational support activities, to include annual budgeting and periodic forecasting, as well as cash flow forecasting
Participate in continuing education classes with the intent to grow as an individual and to impart new knowledge to the finance team
Additional Skills
Requires a strong knowledge of all aspects of accounting.
High level of proficiency with spreadsheet and database tools is desired.
Requires the ability to communicate effectively and work with minimal supervision.
Highly organized, detail oriented and ability to meet deadlines is mandatory.
Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year institution
Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant and progressive accounting experience
Preferred Education and Experience
CPA is desirable
Experience in small-firm public accounting is preferred
Demonstrated leadership and/or supervisory experience is a plus
Proven analytical ability and judgment that comes with varied accounting experience
Previous non-profit accounting experience & FEC reporting is desirable.
Proficiency with basic computer programming, including the Microsoft Office Suite (notably Excel), as well as ERP Accounting system experience .
