The Manager of Communications is primarily responsible for the implementation of communications and public relations strategies in support of the growth of the organization and its initiatives. Serving as a key support individual for the Director of Marketing and Communications, the manager is part of a cross-functional marketing communications team and requires close coordination with various departments. Responsibilities include ensuring that projects achieve the desired results and that they are completed in a timely manner and within budget.

Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications, to develop a comprehensive communications strategy to ensure consistent brand presence and balanced outreach to member segments;
Execute communications plans to enhance the success of organizational and membership initiatives, programs and services; produce timely reports to track results and outcomes;
Coordinate with individual departments and cross-departmental groups to design and implement value-based initiatives, public outreach and education programs, and related strategies;
Assist in the development and implementation of ASGE’s national media relations program, including press monitoring, coordinating the development of press releases, interviews for ASGE experts, and letters to the editor; liaising with public relations agency as needed;
Develop content strategy and messaging, ensuring consistency and adherence to style guide in the organization’s external and internal materials, website and various forms of communications;
Maintain an active social media presence for ASGE, producing fresh and appealing content to raise awareness and drive the number of followers and level of engagement
Maintain the roster of organizational newsletters, including balancing the content calendar, producing accurate content and disseminating newsletters on a timely schedule;
Coordinates the production of the Annual Report, patient education materials and other publications as needed;
Manage material development and related vendor processes including graphic design, print, proofing, approvals, fulfillment and mailing;
Ability to work under tight deadlines regularly; proactively plan and fulfill expectations of team members, volunteer leaders and external audiences;
Assist in the support of committees, as needed.
Bachelor’s degree (BA) in marketing, communications, journalism or related discipline;
A minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of experience in marketing/communications/public relations and/or related experience;
Expert-level competency in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of basic photo and video-editing software. Hands-on, current experience with web content management systems, broadcast email systems and membership/customer databases.
Excellent copywriting, editing and proofreading skills.
Keen time and project management and budgeting skills.
Self-starter and critical thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational and long-range planning skills, including close attention to detail.
