The Director of Convening is a staff leader in support of PQA’s mission and strategic objectives. This individual directs the planning, construction, management, and execution of the organization’s convening activities held throughout the year, including but not limited to the Annual Meeting, Leadership Summit, quarterly board meetings, staff retreats, PQA Convenes series, webinars, and periodic workshops or forums. The director ensures that the needs, interests and experiences of PQA members and stakeholders are prioritized in our approach to events.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans and executes exceptional in-person and online event experiences for PQA members and health care quality professionals that amplify and advance PQA’s mission and impact.
Manages the entire lifecycle of convening events including strategy, logistics, registration, onsite production, and post-event analysis.
Communicates and collaborates effectively with PQA staff, who are responsible for program content, to seamlessly plan and deliver programs through the most appropriate convening formats.
Proposes and implements an organization-wide convening strategy and supporting policies and processes for PQA’s convening activities.
Responsible for all event site proposals and virtual platforms, including developing and disseminating requests for proposals (RFPs), reviewing and evaluating proposals, preparing a summary of RFP responses with financial analyses, contract negotiations, and making recommendations to leadership.
Responsible for event vendor selection and management (e.g., technology; audio-visual production, equipment and labor; printing; catering; transportation, etc.)
Develops and maintains convening budgets and identifies innovative ways to increase non-dues revenue, contain expenses and maximize event net income.
Supports the Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships with solicitation, marketing and outreach of sponsorship and exhibits. Responsible for the internal and external management, support and success of both sponsorship and exhibits.
Serves as a resource for the Communications Coordinator and other staff to support communications and marketing of convening events.
Responsible for the content development, maintenance and accuracy of the convening components of the PQA website, event micro-sites and meeting apps.
Collaborates with the Director of Education for speaker identification, recruitment, and management for Annual Meeting, Leadership Summit, and other in-person and virtual education programs, including abstract submission, review, and selection.
Regularly assesses convening components and provides creative ideas for new convening approaches. Seeks out continuing education on convening, event and program management best practices and Identifies or solicits new ideas from publications, seminars and consultations with other industry professionals.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Job Qualifications and Skill Sets
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years’ experience or training with increasing responsibility; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CMP or equivalent certification preferred.
Association experience, healthcare industry preferred.

Up to 20%. Frequent travel related to planning and executing events as well as travel to attend the PQA Annual Meeting, Leadership Summit, and internal meetings.
