Seeking an engaging and organized individual to join the nation’s leading advocacy organization for children’s healthcare to implement the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) district and chapter projects and programs; manage the Healthy People Grant Program for AAP chapters; and assist in the planning, execution, and evaluation of the AAP Leadership Conference and district meetings.
Some tasks include:
Assist the District Vice Chairpersons (DVCs) in the implementation of district-wide projects and initiatives by preparing and analyzing surveys, communicating with chapter members, and making recommendations on courses of action.
In collaboration with Sr. Manager, District and Chapter Programs, manage the chapter year end summary submission process and oversee the preparation of chapter dashboards upon request by district and chapter leadership on current chapter operations, goals, and initiatives.
Evaluate and monitor chapter financial internal control trends and provide training where gaps in knowledge exist. Annually report chapter financial data to the District Chairpersons (DCs) and DVCs.
Manage the Healthy People Grant Program for chapters, including the development of the request for proposals, application, scoring process, and reporting requirements. Prepare compendiums and communications to share the outcomes of the grants.
Manage the chapter block grant program, to include overseeing the request for proposals, selection process, donor relations, distribution of funds, and budget management.
Facilitate the AAP chapter award recognition program, including the annual Outstanding Chapter Awards, Chapter Excellence Awards, and Special Achievement Awards.
Qualifications include:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public health administration, communications, non-profit management, or other related discipline, or an equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
At least three years’ related project management experience required, including working with board/executive leadership and managing/monitoring budgets. Experience in a medical association or non-profit, grants administration, and maintaining websites and collaboration sites preferred.
Must be a strong leader with the ability to promote and maintain a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment, with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents, take initiative, and work both independently and as part of a team.
Strong technical acumen essential with proficiency in MS Office/project management software and the ability to learn and apply new technologies to advance work activities; experience with membership data systems/CRM (eg, netForum) and virtual meeting platforms (eg, WebEx, Teams) preferred.
Some travel and evening/weekend work required, as well as the ability to be flexible with work schedule to accommodate physicians’ availability.
