The Halogenated Solvents Industry Alliance is seeking an Executive Director to lead its activities in Washington, DC. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director develops and ensures the execution of the association's mission, directs the day-to-day operations, manages and oversees advocacy at the federal and state levels, directs scientific research activities and supervises one full-time employee.

Key Responsibilities (Estimated split of 65% regulatory, 10% legislative, 25% administrative)

* Plan and manage four quarterly meetings of the Board of Directors and Health and Science Committee

* Develop and manage to the yearly budget

* Establish and maintain effective financial controls and manage a part-time CPA

* Respond effectively and professionally to members' needs

* Increase the number of Associate Members and communicate with them on key issues

* Build support for HSIA's agenda by understanding market forces and stakeholders' views

* Proactively develop and build relationships and networks with key external stakeholders

* Develop and implement an effective communications program which informs members, stakeholders and the general public

* Identify appropriate health and science projects assuring HSIA is ahead of the curve in responding to new or lingering issues

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15 years of senior level experience in a trade association or corporate office. The candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work successfully on a wide range of legislative and regulatory issues, and have effective management, leadership and communications skills.     

Specific Qualifications may include a working knowledge of the chemical industry, a history of successful collaboration with government agencies, a record of achieving legislative and regulatory goals, excellent written and oral communications skills, ability to work independently, residence in the Washington, DC area, proof of vaccination against the COVID 19 virus, and the ability to provide a credit report.
