The American Association of Nurse Practitioners® (AANP) is seeking a qualified professional to serve as its Vice President (VP) of Strategic Operations. This role will be responsible for working throughout the association to develop and execute implementation plans with other departments, including driving organizational goals and strategy, ensuring the coordination and successful completion of projects, facilitating the smooth transition of developed projects or solutions into departments, leading the documentation of business processes and requirements to ensure efficient operations across the organization and encouraging best practices and information sharing. This position reports to the chief executive officer (CEO) and is based at the AANP headquarters in Austin, Texas.
Lead and/or participate in cross-functional teams to diagnose organizational effectiveness, helping to identify and develop solutions and crafting and executing high-impact implementation plans.
Help the CEO and department heads research new initiatives, define business requirements, do market research, create project plans, track milestones, test for quality and accuracy, manage coordination across departments, ensure accountability for deliverables and smoothly transition solutions into departments, as appropriate.
Help develop, manage and coordinate data governance, and make needed connections across the organization to maximize and document available information.
Responsible for helping to create organization-wide policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency, increase coordination, improve understanding among the components that feed into a larger process and retain institutional knowledge.
Periodically review and evaluate programs throughout the organization to make recommendations regarding their maintenance, improvement or discontinuation.
Help ensure that information is broadly disseminated to inform decision making, stimulate new ideas, reduce duplication and better utilize resources.
Collaborate across all units to gather intelligence, scale test solutions and design better ways to deploy resources and stimulate collaboration across the organization.
Work with the executive team to maintain equilibrium and find synergies between revenue-producing and mission-driven areas.
Help evaluate organizational contracts, manage external vendors and sign contracts as determined with the CEO.
Coordinate teams to evaluate potential software solutions, including off-the-shelf and custom solutions, as well as evaluate the system architecture to ensure solutions meet business requirements and work well with AANP’s technology platforms and direction.
Create and review project proposals or plans to determine time frames, funding considerations, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements and the allotment of available departmental resources to projects.
Coordinate and respond to requests for changes from original specifications and tactfully manage expectations.
Ensure quality assurance test plans and regression test plans are developed and executed.
Supervise and monitor assigned staff; ensure fulfillment of objectives for those positions; provide regular, ongoing feedback; and conduct performance appraisals as scheduled.
Qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree in management information systems (MIS), computer science, business administration or a related discipline, is required. A master’s degree and Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential are preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification is also desirable.
Ten years of progressive, broad-based business analysis and project management experience with information systems and business experience. Experience in software development and the testing of applications is required.
Executive experience in a large, complex and fast-paced organization with a proven record related to operations, strategic development and implementation.
Ability to interface with a variety of constituencies with different needs and demands to achieve strategic goals.
Strong experience building relationships and communicating to form and lead diverse work teams that achieve results.
Excellent track record as an implementer who thrives on leading a variety of key initiatives concurrently in a cross-functional environment.
Proven analysis, design and implementation experience with technologies.
Technical proficiency in hardware and systems software, as well as experience implementing packages and working with vendors.
Ability to blend creativity, problem solving and technical skills to solve difficult problems.
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills at all management levels.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
