The Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce is seeking an experienced Chief Executive Officer/President to serve as a leader and support our mission!

One hundred fifty-three years ago, we were started by a group of committed and bold business leaders who came together to bring a rail spur through Denver. Today, we continue to focus on the critical issues that will determine the health of our region and economy for decades to come.
The Chief Executive Officer leads all aspects of the organization’s operations, including advocating for critical issues and the Chambers three pillars – 1) Infrastructure, 2) Health and Wellness and 3) Education. These pillars support our economic development and set a foundation to create a healthy and thriving business community. In collaboration with the Board of Directors and on behalf of the membership of the Chamber, the CEO will establish short-term objectives and long-range goals and related plans and policies. This position, with the authority granted by the Board of Directors, will lead by example and demonstrate our Civic DNA of Inclusivity, Collaboration, Shared Vision, Leadership and Responsibility in service to the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce and its affiliates, the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation, the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation, the Denver Metro Small Business Development Center, Prosper CO and the Colorado Competitive Council. This position shall have the overall responsibility for all programs, planning and operations that help define and understand the current and future economic landscape of the state. This role is also accountable to deliver on the expectations established by the Board to drive revenue and promote member satisfaction on an annual basis.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Maximize and leverage a strong Board of Directors relationship and provide the strategic leadership necessary to ensure full Board participation. Maintain regular contact with and advise the Chair and the other Chamber officers (Past Chair, Chair-Elect, Secretary and Treasurer). Work with Board members and senior management on developing, executing and impacting policy, economic development, small business supports and leadership development, and creating an economy that provides access to opportunities for everybody, regardless of race, ethnicity or gender. Plan and organize Executive, Finance, Nominating and 1445 Committees and Board of Directors, and other meetings as appropriate.
Lead the Chamber’s political and advocacy activities, including regular attendance at Legislative Policy Committee meetings. Develop effective, strategic relationships with top political and elected officials on the local, regional and national levels to advance key Chamber initiatives and outcomes. Provide guidance and weigh in as the Chamber’s vote on the Colorado Competitive Council.
Provide the leadership and support of the organization’s regional economic development efforts through the business attraction, retention and workforce development efforts of the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation. Maintain and enhance the strategic and diverse partnerships and alliances in place with all local, regional and state partners.
Provide the leadership and support for the efforts to remove the barriers to economic mobility in our region through Prosper CO. Maintain and enhance strategic and diverse partnerships and alliances with public, private and nonprofit sectors.
Provide the leadership and support for the efforts of the Denver Metro Small Business Development Center. Maintain and enhance strategic and diverse partnerships and alliances that ensure the success of the center and meet the needs of small business in Colorado.
Provide strategic guidance and leadership for the Chamber and its affiliates in service to the Chamber’s membership. Annually develop and maintain the Chamber’s Board-adopted strategic business plan that will sustain and enhance the organization’s revenue in support of its goals.
Ensure the financial health of the organization while being responsible for the overall and financial management of the organization and the long-range strategic planning and focus of the Chamber.
Manage a highly effective and efficient senior staff and organization. Develop, maintain and retain an effective staff inclusive of but not limited to coaching, leadership development, professional development, team-building, staff-related employment issues, and growth and succession planning.
Serve as a principal spokesperson for the Chamber in relevant venues, pro-actively and reactively, with a goal to enhance the Chamber’s overall image. Ensure appropriate Chamber representation at various conferences, conventions and with business groups as a panelist or principal speaker. Be seen as the top advocate for the business community throughout the region and state.
Effectively and in a bi-partisan manner represent the business community at relevant government functions and across all venues. Regularly meet with elected and administrative officials at all levels on public policy matters affecting the business community. Involve the Chamber in, and to the extent needed lead, ballot issue campaigns that impact the business community or important Chamber priorities.
Ensure the Chamber is represented as appropriate at civic, cultural, charitable, business and community events. Serve on boards, commissions, committees and organizations related to areas that are critical to Chamber goals and interests.
Manage the senior team to collaboratively develop position statements, create and deliver speeches, and provide testimony and other materials in the course of daily responsibilities.

Expected annual salary range of $250,000 to $350,000

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO OUR ORGANIZATION
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance, non-profit management or a related field (or equivalent experience). Advanced degree preferred.
A minimum of 10 years of progressive management and leadership experience.
Strategic mindset with demonstrated experience in developing and successfully implementing strategic plans and driving successful outcomes.
Demonstrated experience with managing budgets and evaluating financial statements.
Exceptional communication skills and ability to communicate succinctly, both verbally and in writing, to a broad range of audiences. Excellent business writing skills.
Demonstrated political savvy, respect and expertise necessary to operate within political and executive circles.
Ability to successfully manage the day-to-day activities of a large volunteer organization and to generate respect and support from a wide range of constituencies.
Ability to work flexible, extended hours, attend meetings off site and represent the Chamber in work throughout the state and nationally, as needed.
The successful candidate has:
Demonstrated superior management ability from prior experience serving as senior leader of an organization.
Ability to quickly grasp a wide scope of impactful public policy issues. Knowledge of Colorado legislative and ballot initiative systems and relationships preferred.
Proficiency in media relations activities such as responding to and answering press inquiries, which may include live media events, press conferences and television interviews.
An understanding of the value of a member organization and keeps members top of mind in all phases of decision-making.

Ability to synthesize information quickly and lead through ambiguous situations and/or environments.
