The American Association of Community Colleges' (AACC) apprenticeship work is a critical and highly visible effort that continues to be a signature effort for AACC during 2019-2022. This position includes working with the U.S. Department of Labor, multiple national partner organizations, and a large portion of the AACC membership and influential leadership circles. Specifically, the Project Manager/Research Writer will support this effort across all four strands of activities including: Strand 1. AACC member engagement to organize and make more accessible member content about registered apprenticeship programs at community colleges. Within this strand is also the support of a fifty-person (50) national task force; Strand 2. Organization and provision of technical assistance to support member colleges connecting more effectively to the expansion of registered apprenticeships through an AACC Web-Based Virtual Apprenticeship Network, which will provide a system of supports and resources curated by AACC and partners; Strand 3. Oversight of 58 individual colleges and 8 consortia to produce a minimum of 12,000 registered apprentices throughout the timeline of the period of performance; Strand 4. Industry-led registered apprenticeship expansion to produce a minimum of 4,000 apprentices across seven industry partners throughout the period of performance.
This position is project-funded through February 28, 2022. Continuation beyond February 28, 2022 is contingent on receipt and continuation of grant funds and on satisfactory evaluation of performance.
The Project Manager/Research Writer will support the high-quality execution of project goals, activities and timeframes; manage communication with all partners related to best practices and expansion of registered apprenticeship programs; organize the content, logistics, and alignment of technical assistance; interpret and analyze data and patterns; compile research, data, and statistics to produce reports; support the Executive Director of Apprenticeships to collect, organize, and/or create tools for the Virtual Apprenticeships Network; participate in monitoring reviews; draft project updates; and support the task force comprised of national leaders in registered apprenticeships.

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, creative writing, or English and three to five years of workforce and/or economic development experience. An understanding of apprenticeships and/or work-based learning experiences for students in community colleges is strongly preferred. Must have experience in multi-year, multi-partner project management, research, and proficiency in standard office computer/software applications. Must also have superior project management skills, advanced writing skills, and comfort with working in a highly collaborative and fast-paced team environment. This position is currently in a telework status until employees return to the office in July 2021, at which point, the position will be housed 100% at the AACC headquarters in Washington, DC, and occasional travel could be required.
