The American Dental Association is dedicated to promoting the public's health through its initiatives in research, education, advocacy, public awareness and the development of standards.
The Chief of Governance & Strategy Management will direct and manage activities in the following areas: House and Board relations and the operation of the House of Delegates and Board of Trustees; governance issues, and annual governance training programs, strategic planning; special projects as assigned by the Executive Director; manage the New Trustee, new Officer and Governance Committee Orientation Program, and orientation modules for Councils and Board; project management; and Oversight of Global Affairs and ADA philanthropic programs. The Incumbent will be a lead senior staff liaison to council directors and will participate on the senior executive team, ADA strategic planning, and works with the Board of Trustees on its strategic planning efforts.
Juris Doctor with a minimum of 10 years of management experience including corporate or association governance, OR a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 15 years of management experience including corporate or association governance.
Experience with budget management.
Must have the ability to confidently interact with volunteer leaders and senior staff.
Availability for weekend and evening hours.
Ability to manage staff to assure excellence and development.
Must have excellent analytical, organizational, project management, written & verbal communications, prioritization, board relationship, and management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (WORD, EXCEL & PowerPoint)
Highly Desirable Skills:
Direct experience working with association volunteers and governance; business management experience; editing skills.
