The Membership and Marketing Manager is responsible for overseeing the Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP) membership and marketing function. The position directly oversees the recruitment of new members, retention of existing members, successful implementation of member programs, and the tracking and reporting of data through the association database. The Membership and Marketing Manager works to promote and market SPSP programs that keep members informed, engaged, and empowered to support SPSP’s mission.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Duties that occupy a major portion of time and importance in the job)
Facilitate and direct membership initiatives and activities across the organization with a focus on member recruitment and retention.
Oversee the Connect! Community, develop engagement strategies in partnership with the Membership & Marketing Associate and serve as secondary support for moderation.
Oversee the annual awards programs.
Oversee all customer service platforms. Provide customer service to members via phone, SnapEngage messaging system, and the SPSP Info and SPSP membership inbox.
Serve as staff liaison to committees related to membership communities.
Oversee the accuracy and integrity of the membership database. Responsible for adherence to data policies and regulations.
Provide regular and thorough reporting of membership data to internal stakeholders and create email distribution lists.
Leads the SPSP Marketing Team to develop and coordinate the annual society-wide marketing strategy and tactics (including the content calendar, metric tracking and reporting, and adjusting tactics as data is reported).
Maintain the SPSP brand across all materials.
Works with all staff members to ensure the promotion and announcement of SPSP products and services through multiple delivery mechanisms.
Lead the development and implementation of membership marketing efforts (recruitment, renewals, and member onboarding).
Explore potential membership markets and expand membership using data-driven strategies. Coordinates with the Public & Media Relations Manager for social media campaigns.
Serve as the main point of contact for SPSP’s email marketing system (Informz).
Review, edit, program, test and send all SPSP email communications.

Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Management or related field.

Minimum of three years of prior related experience working within a marketing or membership services department.
Individual membership association experience.

· Demonstrated record of success developing and implementing an annual membership marketing and retention plan
· Strong oral and written communication skills (to include strong skills in editing)

· High level of initiative, problem solving skills and ability to be flexible and adapt to shifting priorities
Demonstrated commitment to enhancing diversity of people and ideas in the field of social psychology and personality psychology
Knowledge of Association Management systems; Project Management software; Microsoft Office products.
Knowledge of Association Management Information Systems (preferably NOAH); Microsoft Teams, Informz, HigherLogic. Graphic design tools. Google analytics.

This position is primarily sedentary in the Washington, DC office with occasional overnight travel (less than 10%).
