Eos is the news magazine of AGU. The publication reports daily on innovative Earth and space science results, produces in-depth features on research tends in the geosciences, and works with scientist authors to provide unique, behind-the-scenes perspectives on how they answer the most fascinating questions about the way our world works.
The Production and Analytics Specialist position is key in assisting operations and production of Eos.org and supporting the development of programming that enables Eos to make strides in its mission to publish engaging and educational science content for a broad audiences. This position reports to the Manager, Production and Operations.
Supports the production team with preparing articles for publication on Eos.org, including identifying images and multimedia, to ensure that Eos.org meets the highest publishing standards in style and accuracy.
Manages Eos social media platforms and provides weekly analytics reports for Eos.org, newsletters, and other content as needed.
Consults with editorial staff and suggests complementary content regarding multimedia storytelling, including but not limited to minor video and audio editing, creating digital photo galleries, and integrating existing Eos content into new platforms.
Supports development of novel Eos projects that support its mission to create content that engages a broad audience, including the science-engaged public, those curious about science as a career, and an increasingly international readership.
Coordinates with the Editor in Chief and acts as project manager for exciting new programs that leverage Eos content for these audiences.
Administers the Eos article proposal system by tracking and following up on tasks for the Editor in Chief and Science Advisers, logging and tracking submissions and reviews, and drafting decision letters. Provides quarterly analytics on submission data.
Administers and tracks activity on Eos’s editorial and workflow production platform, including creating new folders for editors, instructing scientist authors on how to use the platform, and archiving published items.
Supports the production of the monthly Eos print magazine.

What the Production and Analytics Specialist brings to the team
5+ years of experience in project management, operations, publishing, education, or related field, with a Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in a membership association/not-for-profit and/or scientific or technical organization preferred.
Exceptional analytical, research, organizational, project management, and communications skills. Should include experience with a variety of communications channels, including websites, newsletters, social media, and apps.
Solid interpersonal and teamwork skills, and experience in seeking input from across the organization and implementing plans in concert with other departments.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, both independently and as part of a team, in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, as well as multi-task and set priorities in a flexible manner to address changing needs.
Demonstrated ability to produce and edit multimedia, including images, video, and audio.
Proficiency with Microsoft suite of products, including Excel and Word, as well as Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign and Photoshop.
Proficiency with Google Analytics or Google Data Studio, Google Tag Manager, AdWords, WordPress, and HTML.
Ability to exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
