Compensation for this position is in the high $90K to low $110k range depending on qualifications and experience.
Summary: Under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Director of Communications is responsible for developing and implementing an outreach and communications strategy that advances the vision and mission of the American Foreign Service Protective Association (AFSPA) and the Senior Living Foundation (SLF).
Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Direct the day-to-day activities of the Outreach and Communications team, including supervising and mentoring outreach and communications staff to include the Manager of Outreach.
Develop and implement a robust communications plan that advances the missions and visions of AFSPA and SLF and aligns with the organizational strategic direction. This communications plan should be a three-pronged strategic approach that incorporates publications (print and digital), media (video, podcasts, webinars, etc.) and outreach to members, various Federal Government agencies, organizational partners and various external stakeholders.
Collaborate with staff at all levels across the organization to plan initiatives, develop public education and create innovative, timely and appropriate messaging about AFSPA and SLF programs and services.
Direct the development, dissemination, maintenance of all print and digital collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, e-blasts, annual campaign letters, reports, blog posts, social media, and updates to the organization's websites.
Oversee production and creation of video content and graphics to support digital communications efforts.
Launch robust social media strategy and oversee the creation and management of social media content to include existing AFSPA and SLF accounts on Facebook, and the possibility of new accounts on other platforms such as Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.
Track, measure and report key performance indicators to determine marketing/communication effectiveness.
Cultivate and manage relationships with partners and external stakeholders including media, consultants, vendors, etc.
Edit and proof all editorial content and collateral materials (brochures, flyers, signage, email graphics, animated graphics, etc.)
Travel domestically and internationally to represent the AFSPA and SLF at health fairs, partner meetings and other promotional events (roughly 2-4 weeks).

4-year degree in Marketing, Communications or another related field and 7 years of progressive experience in Marketing and Communications field., or a combination of education and experience.
At least 5 years of direct supervisory experience.
Communications experience in healthcare, an association or other related setting.
Expertise in branding, marketing, and fundraising best practices for non-profits and associations.
Proficiency with web content management systems and email management platforms such as Campaigner.
