The American Chemistry Council (ACC), a national trade association representing the world’s leading chemical and plastics manufacturers, currently has an opportunity for Coordinator, Sustainability & Market Outreach for its Sustainability and Market Outreach Department. ACC represents its members on public policy issues; coordinates the industry’s research and testing programs; and administers Responsible Care®, the industry’s environment, health, safety and security performance improvement initiative.
The position is responsible for providing administrative, financial, technical and organizational support services to designated staff working on sustainability issues and outreach to downstream market sectors. This includes supporting organizing meetings for internal staff and ACC member company representatives, helping with targeted outreach programs, and helping to maintain appropriate records and files. The position reports directly to the Senior Director, Sustainability Strategy and Market Outreach.
In addition, the position supports the management and oversight of budget and accounting systems, including tracking and processing of contracts, invoices and expense reports for group projects; supports the management of member committees including the Board Sustainability Committee, Retail Subcommittee, and the Building & Construction Subcommittee; composes and drafts various correspondence and materials for both print and intranet; and participates in and manages specific events and meetings, as needed.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree; two years professional experience, preferably in a trade association, regulatory agency, advocacy organization, sustainability or environmental issue management fields or on Capitol Hill; familiarity with manufacturing and product supply chains and related procurement and sustainability issues; excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills; and the ability to travel as needed. Knowledge of chemical or related industry highly desired.
