BASIC FUNCTION: The Communications Director is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the association’s communications strategies and public information activities and for fostering and maintaining relationships with news media, other communications directors and partner organizations involved with the Association.
Under the direction of the Chief Staff Executive (CSE) create and manage the development and implementation of an integrated marketing and communications strategy/plan, supporting the Association’s strategic plan and develop and direct all media programs – electronic and print.
Measure and evaluate the association’s brand with the overall marketing communications plan.
Develop and manage media relations and public relations including the maintenance of important relationships and development of key messages.
Pro-actively place strategic news stories that communicate the association’s messages, in significant media outlets including social media.
Collect data from appropriate departments; Research, write, edit and publish releases, alerts, statements, articles, and other materials in support of the Association’s brand/mission. Manage the approval process for all.
Design and implement media and brand communications training for staff and key leadership, when appropriate.
Coordination and oversight of association’s major events.
Coordination and oversight of association’s corporate sponsorship program.
Provide liaison assistance for association committees.
Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications strategies internally with members and externally with media.
Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills.
A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently.
Social media fluency.
Excellent leadership skills with ability to influence and monitor meeting protocol.
Experience with branding and communications campaigns.
Self-starter, able to work independently and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives.
Previous professional experience in REALTOR® or association trade groups, membership organizations and marketing preferred.
Excellent computer skills and experience with standard business software.
Ability to make presentations and handle media inquiries.
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
